Shades Of Grey

Supplies needed:
PSP – I used X4 but any version will do
Animation Shop
Tube of Choice
Font of Choice – I used PT Script (unreg) Sirocco
Eye Candy 5:Impact – Gradient Glow
Xenofex 2 – Little Fluffy Clouds
CandysTreatsMask4 by Diane or one of choice
Shades of Grey kit by Diane, this is a limited time freebie available at Taggers Art

I used the awesome artwork of Anthony Guerra
Unfortunately Anthony has retired from selling tubes, please only us his work if you have a license

Let’s Start
Open a new canvas 400×400 and flood fill with white
Open Cluster4 and resize to 350 pixels wide
Copy and paste as a new layer onto your canvas

Open a paper of choice and resize to 400 pixels – I used paper4
Copy and paste as a new layer
Move below the frame layer
Grab your magic wand with these settings:
Mode: Add (Shift) / Match Mode: RGB Value / Tolerance & Feather: 0 / Contiguous & Anti-Alias: checked
Activate your frame layer and select inside it
Selections, Modify, Expand by 4 pixels
Selections, Invert
Activate the paper layer
Press delete on your keyboard
Selections, None

Copy and paste your tube as a new layer
Keep it below your frame layer
Resize if needed and position where it looks best
When happy with size and position, duplicate
Move the copy above the frame

Working on the duplicate tube (above the frame)
Erase any tube that covers the bottom of the frame
I drew a selection round the area

Back on the bottom tube
Erase any part that is below the frame
Again I drew a selection round the area

Activate your white background layer
Open a paper of choice and resize to 340 pixels – I used paper 3
Copy and paste as a new layer
Layers, Load/Save Mask, Load Mask from Disk
Find CandysTreatsMask4 or one of choice
Source luminance, Fit to layer and Hide all mask checked
Layers, Merge, Merge Group
Move this mask down and to the left of your canvas slightly

Open another paper of choice and resize to 340 pixels – I used paper 7
Copy and paste as a new layer
Repeat the mask on this layer
Layers, Merge, Merge Group
Move the 2nd mask layer up and to the right of your canvas
With your 2nd mask layer the active one
Layers, Merge, Merge Down

Open Rope 2 from the kit, resize to 300 pixels wide
Image, Flip
Copy and paste as a new layer
Position so it’s sticking out from the top of your frame
Duplicate and move the copy above your frame
Hide your tube layers for now

Working on the copy of the rope
Erase parts so it looks like parts hang over the frame
I draw a selection round the areas I wanted to keep

Open Leaves1 from the kit and resize to 250pixels
Copy and paste as a new layer
Move this layer below your original rope layer (above the mask layer)
Using your selection tool with these settings:
Selection type: Point to point / Mode: Add (shift) / Feather & Smoothing: 0 / Anti-Alias: checked
Draw a selection round one of the leaves

Selections, Promote selection to layer
Selections, None
Move the promoted layer above the bottom rope layer
Unhide your tube layers now

Activate your mask layer
Add a new raster layer – name it Clouds 1
Effects, Plugins, Xenofex 2 – Little Fluffy Clouds
Choose Seemless Tile 1 from the settings menu
Then select these Basic settings:

Under Camera and Sky
Ensure Seamless Tile and Draw Sky Background are both checked
Set the Zenith color to better match your image – I set mine to #737D8C

Add another new raster layer – name it Clouds 2
Repeat the Little Fluffy Clouds but click Random Seed

Add another new raster layer – name it Clouds 3
Repeat the Little Fluffy Clouds but click Random Seed

Activate your mask layer
Selections, All, Float, Defloat, Invert
Activate Clouds 3 and press delete
Hide this layer
Activate Clouds 2 and press delete
Hide this layer
Activate Clouds 1 and press delete
Selections, None
Delete the mask layer we don’t need it anymore

Add drop shadow of choice to the following layers
My shadow settings were
V&H: 2 / Opacity: 55 / Blur: 5.94 / Color: Black
Both leaf layers, Both Rope layers, Top tube layer & Frame layer
You may need to erase a little bit of the top tube to tidy up the shadow

Hide your white background and crop away any excess canvas
Unhide the white background again

Select your text tool and choose your font
Set your foreground to null, backgroud to a color of choice
Create as vector and Anti-Alias both checked
Add your name
Use the nodes to stretch and angle your text if required
When happy with size and placement
Convert to raster
Effects, Plugins, Eye Candy 5:Impact – Gradient Glow
Set the colors to match your tag

Add the same drop shadow as you used before

Add your artists copyrights, scrap credits and your own taggers watermark as a new layer

Ensure Clouds 2 and Clouds 3 are hidden
Edit, Copy Special, Copy Merged
Open up Animation Shop (AS)
Edit, Paste as a new animation

Back to PSP
Hide Clouds 1 and unhide Clouds 2
Edit, Copy Special, Copy Merged
Over to AS
Edit, Paste after current frame

Back to PSP
Hide Clouds 2 and unhide Clouds 3
Edit, Copy Special, Copy Merged
Over to AS
Edit, Paste after current frame

Staying in AS
Edit, Select All
Animation, Frame Properties – set this to 25
Save as a gif file
All Done Smile
