Sexy In Stripes

Supplies needed:
PSP – I used X2 but this will work in any version
3 Tubes of your choice – from the same artist
Font/s of your choice
Toadies – Blast ’em!
Xero – Fritillary
Eye Candy 4000 – Gradient Glow (or other Eye Candy)

I used the awesome artwork of Dirk Richter
You will need a license from cdo to use his work
Please do not use Dirk’s work without purchasing a license first.

Let’s Start
Open a new canvas 400 x 400
Flood fill with white and rename this layer Background
Select your preset shape tool and set it to Elipse
Set your foreground to null and your background to a colour from your tube
Draw out a circle that covers about 2/3 of your canvas
Objects, Align, Center in Canvas
Convert to raster and rename Circle 1

Change your preset shape to a rectangle
Change your background to a darker colour from your tube
Draw a thin rectangle on the left side of your canvas
You want it in slightly on the circle layer but taller

When happy convert to raster
Rename Rectangle 1

Change your background colour again
Draw a fatter rectangle to the right of the first one
Slighty shorter than the first but still bigger than the circle

When happy convert to raster
Rename Rectangle 2

Change your background colour again
Draw a thinner and shorter rectangle to the left hand side of the fat one

When happy convert to raster
Rename Rectangle 3

That’s the base of your tag, now lets make it pretty
Activate your Circle 1 layer
Selections, All, Float, Defloat
Selections, Modify, Contract by 15 pixels
Selections, Promote selection to layer
Selections, Modify, Contract by 5 pixels
Making sure you are on the Promoted layer, press delete on your keyboard
Selections, None

Duplicate your promoted layer
Hide the original promoted layer for now
Working on your Copy of Promoted Layer
Adjust, Add/Remove Noise, Add Noise

Then, Effects, Plugins, Toadies – Blast ’em!

Adjust, Sharpness, Sharpen

Activate the Promoted Layer
Grab your magic wand with these settings:
Mode – Add (Shift) / Match Mode – RGB Value / Tolerance & Feather – 0 / Contiguous & Anti-Alias – checked
Click inside the circle
Selections, Modify, Expand by 4 pixels
Activate you Circle 1 layer
Effects, Plugins, Xero, Fritillary

Keep Selected and stay on Circle 1 layer
Selections, Invert
Adjust, Blur, Gaussian Blur – radius set to 5
Keep Selected

Copy and paste your first tube of choice as a new layer
Position so the face is in the circle
When happy with your placement, press delete on your keyboard
Selections, None

On your tube layer – Rename Tube 1
Duplicate your Tube 1
On the original, change the blend mode to Luminance (legacy) and lower the opacity to about 65
On your copy of Tube 1, change the blend mode to Soft Light and lower the opacity to about 57

Activate rectangle 1
Adjust, Add/Remove Noise, Add Noise
Use the same setting but change the % to 50
Duplicate this layer
On the original
Adjust, Blur, Gaussian Blur – radius set to 5

Activate Rectangle 2
Effects, VM, Extravaganza – Transmission

Staying on Rectangle 2 layer
Selections, All, Float, Defloat
Selections, Modify, Contract by 3 pixels
Selections, Invert
Layers, Promote Selection to Layer
Selections, None

On the promoted layer
Adjust, Add/Remove Noise, Add Noise
Use the same setting but change the % to 75
Add a drop shadow of choice to this layer – I used
V & H – 1 / Opacity – 50 / Blur – 5 / Colour – White (set your colour depending on your tag colours)
Repeat the drop shadow but change the V & H to -1 (minus 1)

Activate Rectangle 2 again
Selections, All, Float, Defloat
Selections, Modify, Contract by 2 pixels
Selections, Invert
Copy and paste your 2nd tube of choice as a new layer – rename Tube 2
Position inside the frame of the rectangle
When happy with the placement, press delete on your keyboard
Selections, None

Duplicate your tube 2 layer
On the original, change the blend mode to Luminace (legacy) and lower the opacity to about 46
On the copy of tube 2, change the blend mode to Soft Light and lower the opacity to about 57

Activate Rectangle 3
Selections, All, Float, Defloat
Selections, Modify, Contract by 5 pixels
Selections, Promote Selection to layer
Selections, Modify, Contract by 3 pixels
Press delete on your keyboard
Selections, None
Making sure you are on your promoted layer
Adjust, Add/Remove Noise, Add Noise
Use the same setting but change the % to 100
Repeat the noise again

Copy and paste your 3rd and last tube as a new layer
Position where you think it looks best on your tag
Duplicate your tube and hide the copy

Grab your text tool and choose a chunky font – I used Lithos Po Light
Set your foreground & background to the same colour of your choice from your tube
Create as vector and anti-alias both checked
Add your text of choice – I put Sexy In Stripes
Position under your tube
Use the nodes to stretch your text (if required)
When happy convert to raster
Move the text layer below your tube in your layer palette

Duplicate your text, move this layer between your 2 tube layers on your layer palette
On your copy of text
Effects, Plugins, Eye Candy 4000 – Gradient Glow
These are the settings I used

Add a drop shadow of choice – I used:
Vertical – -1 (minus 1) /Horizontal – 6 / Opacity – 50 / Blur – 5 / Colour – Black

Hide your lower tube and unhide the copy
Erase part of the copy so it looks like it goes behind the text

Unhide your lower tube again
Change your font for a nice scripty one – I used Ministry Script
Set your foreground to null now, leave your background on
Create as vector and anti-alias both still checked
Add your name
Use the nodes to stretch and angle your text (if required)
When happy convert to raster
Effects, Plugins, Eye Candy 4000 – Gradient Glow
These are the settings I used

Add the same drop shadow you added to your other text
Add your artists copyrights and your own taggers watermark as a new layer
All Done šŸ™‚

Now either save as a jpg or delete the white layer and save as a png
