Spring Fling

Supplies needed:
PSP – I used X4 but any version will do
Animation Shop
Tube of Choice
Fonts of Choice – I used Teachers Pet (pixel), A&S Marquee (bold) & Miss Fitzpatrick(script)
MuRa’s Meister – Copies
Eye Candy 6: Text Selection – Glass
Lokas Software – 3D Shadow
WSL_Mask9 by Chelle
Spring Love Collab from PimpMyTags, I used PolkaDot Scraps portion or kit of choice

I used the awesome artwork of Barabara Jensen
You will need a license from Barb’s Store to use her work
Please do not use Barb’s work without purchasing a license first

Note: When opening anything from a kit, press Shift+D to duplicate and close the original, ALWAYS work on the copy

Let’s Start
Open a new canvas 300×300, small I know but we will be increasing it
Copy and paste a paper of choice as a new layer
Do Not Resize the paper
Layers, Load/Save Mask, Load Mask from Disk
Look for WSL_Mask9 or one of choice
Source luminance, Fit to canvas and Hide all mask checked
Layers, Merge, Merge Group

Image, Canvas Size, Increase to 400×400
Central placement selected, this will give you 50 pixels on all sides

Move your mask layer down to the left slightly
Duplicate your mask
Move the copy up and to the right
So they overlap slightly

With the copy the active layer
Layers, Merge, Merge Down

Open a frame of choice
Resize to 225 pixels on the largest side
Copy and paste as a new layer
Duplicate your frame

Copy and paste a paper of choice as a new layer
Position the part you want inside the frame
Activate your frame and select your magic wand with these settings:
Mode: Add (shift) / Match Mode: RGB Value / Tolerance & Feather: 0 / Contiguous & Anti-Alias: checked
Click inside your frame
Selections, Modify, Expand by 5 pixels
Selections, Invert
Activate the paper layer and press delete
Selections, None

Activate the original frame
Copy and paste your tube of choice as a new layer
Position so the face is inside the frame
Activate your copy of frame
Erase the top part of the frame that covers the head
I drew a selection round the area so you can see

Back on your tube layer
Erase any parts of the tube that are below the frame
Effects, Plugins, Lokas Software – 3D Shadow

Open Flower 1 from the kit
Resize by 50%
Copy and paste as a new layer
Move to the top of your layer palette
Place at the bottom right of your frame
Add a drop shadow of choice I used
V: 0 / H: 2 / Opacity: 85 / Blur: 5 / Color: Grey (#4E5254)

Open Flower 4 from the kit
Resize to 350 pixels high
Copy and paste as a new layer
Move below your pink flower layer
Position so it looks like they are coming from behind the pink flowers
Erase any stem that is below the pink flowers
Add the same drop shadow

Open Scatter3 from the kit
Copy and paste as a new layer
Move this layer to the top of your layer palette
Position the butterflies near the top of your tube
Erase any excess ones

Open Flower 5 from the kit
Copy and paste as new layer
Position next to your tube
Again erase any excess ones

Activate your mask layer
Layers, View, Current Only
Select your text tool and choose a small pixel font
Foreground set to null, Background to a color of choice
Create as vector: Checked / Anti-Alias: OFF
Add your message, I typed Spring Fling
Objects, Align, Center in Canvas
Convert to raster
Duplicate your text move the copy down to the left slightly

With your copy active
Layers, Merge, Merge Down
Effects, Plugins, MuRa’s Meister – Copies
Choose the Tiling preset

Activate the mask layer
Selections, All, Float, Defloat
Selections, Invert
Activate the text layer and press delete on your keyboard once
Selections, None
Lower the opacity to about 50
Layers, View, View All

Open Flower 1 from the kit again
Resize by 50% all layer checked
Duplicate and move the copy to the bottom right of your canvas
Duplicate again, Image and flip
Move this layer the top right of your canvas
Move this layer to the bottom of your layer palette
Duplicate and Image, Mirror
Duplicate and Image, Flip
Your entire canvas should bow be filled with flowers

Layers, Merge, Merge Visible
Effects, Image Effects, Seamless Tiling

Move this canvas to one side for now

Back on your main canvas
Select your text tool and choose a bold font
Create as vector and Anti-Alias both checked
Foreground set to a dark color from your flowers
Background set to null
Stroke width set to 2
Type out your message again

Do Not Convert to raster
Duplicate your text
On the copy, convert to raster
On the original
Click the + sign on your layer palette
Now right click on the indented layer and select properties
Turn the stoke off and set the background to the flower pattern we made
Convert to raster

Working on the fill layer
Effects, Plugins, Eye Candy 6: Text Selection – Glass
Under settings choose Clear – No Drop Shadow
Under Basic these are the settings I used
You may want to fiddle with Glass Color and Inner Shadow Opacity to get a look you like

Activate the copy of text
Move below your glass text layer
Duplicate and on the bottom one
Adjust, Blur, Gaussian Blur – Radius of 3
On the other one
Adjust, Add/Remove Noise, Add Noise
Gaussian & Monochrome: Checked / Noise: 25
Repeat the noise again using the same settings

Still with your text tool, change your font again to a scripty one
Foreground set to null, Background to a color of choice
Create as vector and Anti-Alias both checked
Add your name
Position over the top of your glass text and convert to raster
Add a drop shadow of choice I used
V&H: 1 / Opacity: 85 / Blur: / Color: Grey (#4E5254)

Add your artists copyright, scrap credits and your own taggers watermark as a new layer
Crop away any excess canvas
Save as a jpg/png
All Done 🙂
