Moonlight Serenade

Supplies needed:
PSP – I used X5 but any version will do
Animation Shop
Tube of Choice
Font of Choice – I used Rock’s Death
Moonlight Sonata by Grunge & Glitter or kit of choice

I used the awesome artwork of Gaetano Di Falco
You can purchase his work and a license from CDO
Please do not use Gaetano’s work without purchasing a license first.

Let’s Start
Open a new canvas 600×200
Open a plain paper of choice from the kit, I used paper 6
Copy and paste as a new layer – rename Paper 1
Open a patterned paper of choice, I used paper 1
Copy and paste as a new layer – rename Paper 2
Lower the opacity of this layer to about 51
Crop your canvas back to 600×200

Open the Piano keys
Effects, Distortion effects, Wave

Copy and paste as a new layer
Move down on the canvas slightly
Move over the left hand side
Duplicate, move the copy to the right and line up with the original
You want the piano to cover the whole bottom of the canvas

Duplicate the piano keys layer
On the original, Adjust, Blur, Gaussian Blur – radius set to 10
On the copy, resize by 75%
Move it right over to the left so the right edge of the piano is on the right edge
Rename the original Piano Blur, rename the Copy P1

Duplicate P1
Effects, Image Effects, Offset

Rename P2
Duplicate P2, repeat the offset with the same settings
Rename P3
Duplicate P3, repeat the offset with the same settings
Rename P4
Hide layers, P2, P3 and P4 for now

Copy and paste your tube as a new layer
Position on the left hand side
Effects, Plugins, Xero – Porcelain default settings
Effects, Plugins, Xero – Radiance default settings
Change the blend mode to Luminance (Legacy)
Duplicate and on the copy change the blend mode to Soft Light

Copy and paste your tube again as a new layer
Move below Piano Blur on your layer palette
Resize by 65%
Position in the right hand corner, Mirror if required
Change the blend mode to Luminance (Legacy)
Lower the opacity to 40

Activate the top layer on your layer palette – should be your copy if tube
Copy and paste the moonlight from the kit
Image, Mirror
Position over your tube
Duplicate – on the original
Adjust, Blur, Gaussian Blur – radius set to 5
On the copy, change the blend mode to Screen and lower the opacity to 51

Activate Paper 1 and duplicate it
Move the copy to the top of you layer palette (Layers, Arrange, Bring to Top)
Selections, All, Modify, Contract by 2 pixels
Press delete on your keyboard once
Selections, None
Add a drop shadow of choice to this layer I used
V&H: 1 / Opacity: 100 / Blur: 1 / Color: Light color of choice I used #8E8E8F
Repeat the shadow changing the V&H to -1
Duplicate this layer
On the copy, Adjust, Blur, Gaussian Blur – radius set to 5

Select your text tool and choose a font
Set your foreground to null, Background to a light color of choice I used #D3D3D0
Create as vector and Anti-Alias both checked
Add your name
Use the nodes to stretch out if needed
Position where it looks best
When happy with size and placement, convert to raster
Add a drop shadow of choice I used:
V&H: -1 / Opacity: 100 / Blur: 2 / Color: Black
Add another drop shadow with the same settings but change the color to a light color I used #8E8E8F
Lower the opacity to about 63
Add your artists copyrights, scrap credits (if required) and your own taggers watermark as a new layer

Ensure layers P2, P3 and P4 are still hidden
Edit, Copy Special, Copy Merged
Open Animation Shop (AS)
Edit, Paste as a new animation

Back to PSP
Hide P1 and unhide P2
Edit, Copy Special, Copy Merged
Over to AS
Edit, Paste after current frame

Back to PSP
Hide P2 and unhide P3
Edit, Copy Special, Copy Merged
Over to AS
Edit, Paste after current frame

Back to PSP
Hide P3 and unhide P4
Edit, Copy Special, Copy Merged
Over to AS
Edit, Paste after current frame

Staying in AS
Edit, Select All
Animation, Frame Properties – set this to 20
Save as a gif file
All Done 🙂
