Mermaids Play

Supplies needed:
PSP – I used X4 but any version will do
Tube of Choice
Font of Choice – I used Pea Zobrist
Eye Candy 4000 – Gradient Glow
Pool Party kit by DesignsBySarah or Kit of Choice

I used the awesome artwork of Nicole Brune
I purchased this tube when Nicole was with CILM, you now purchase her work and a license from CDO
Please do not use Nicole’s work without purchasing a license first.

Let’s Start
Open a new canvas 400×400 and flood fill with white
Open Frame 6 and resize to 300 pixels wide
Copy and paste as a new layer
Select your magic wand with these settings:
Mode: Add (Shift) / Match Mode: RGB Value / Tolerance & Feather: 0 / Contiguous & Anti-Alias: Checked
Select inside both parts of the frame
Selections, Modify, Expand by 5 pixels
Add a new raster layer name it Frame Back
Move this layer below the frame layer

Open a paper of choice from the kit I used paper 4
Copy and paste the paper INTO the selections
Selections, None

Copy and paste your tube as a new layer – resize if needed
Position where you want it within the frame
Keep below the frame layer and above frame back layer
Using your selection tool or freehand selection tool
Select areas of the tube you want in front of the frame

Selections, Promote selection to layer
Move the promoted layer above the frame layer
On the original tube layer, press delete
Selections, None
Still on the original tube layer
Erase any excess tube that in below the frame

Open Water 2 from the kit and resize to 300 pixels wide
Activate your frame layer
Copy and paste the water as a new layer
Position over the bottom of the frame
Duplicate and move either up or down to create a larger splash

Activate the frame layer again
Open Sequins and resize to 150 pixels high
Copy and paste as a new layer
Position below the frame on either the left or right hand side
Select your Pick/Deform tool
Holding down ctrl, place your cursor on the top left corner node and pull in slightly
Release crtl
Place cursor on the middle bottom node and pull up slightly

Duplicate your sequins layer
Image, Mirror
Back on the original one again
Duplicate and move the copy towards the middle
When happy with the position of the sequins layers
Hide all layers except your 3 sequins layer
Layers, Merge, Merge Visible
Duplicate and on the copy
Adjust, Blur, Gaussian Blur – Radius set to 5
Unhide all layers now (Layers, View, View All)

Activate the white background layer
Open a paper of choice I used paper 8
Resize to 325 pixels
Copy and paste as a new layer
Layers, Load/Save Mask, Load Mask from Disk
Look for MythMask48 or one of choice
Source luminance, Fit to layer and Hide all mask checked
Layers, Merge, Merge Group

Activate the frame layer
Open the sun from the kit and resize to 300 pixels wide
Copy and paste as a new layer
Position in the middle of the frame at the top
Drag the sun layer down so its below frame back layer

Open WordArt 1 and add a new raster layer
Move the new layer below the wordart layer
Using your paintbrush, paint the holes in the wordart white
Layers, Merge, Merge Visible
Effects, 3D Effects, Inner Bevel

Resize to 175 pixels wide
Copy and paste as a new layer
Move to below the promoted layer
Duplicate and working on the copy, apply the same Gaussian Blur as before
Lower the opacity to about 75

Select your text tool and choose your font
Set your foreground to null, background to a color of choice
Create as vector and Anti-Alias both checked
Add your text of choice
Position where it looks best
When happy convert to raster
Effects, Plugins, Eye Candy 4000 – Gradient Glow

Add a drop shadow of choice I used:
V: 0 / H: 2 / Opacity: 50 / Blur: 6 / Color: Black

Add your name using the same settings
Add the same glow and drop shadow
Add your artists copyrights, scrap credits (if required) and your own taggers watermark as a new layer
Delete the white background layer
Crop away any excess canvas
Save as a jpg/png
