Falling For You

Supplies needed:
PSP – I used X4 but any version will do
Tube of Choice
Fonts of Choice – used FFF Galaxy, Acme Font, Miss le Gatees & FFF Urban
VM Extravaganza – Transmission
MuRa’s Meister – Copies
Falling For You scrap kit by Hungry Hill or kit of choice

I used the awesome artwork of Rion Vernon aka PinUp Toons
You can purchase his work and a license from CDO.
Please do not use Rion’s work without purchasing a license first.

Note: Ensure you press Shift + D on all scrap items and tubes and close the originals for another day. Always work on the copies 🙂

Let’s Start
Open a new canvas 400 x 400 and flood fill with white
Open the Roses and resize to 325 pixels high
Copy and paste as a new layer
Duplicate the Roses, rename the original Back and the copy Roses

Working on Back
Adjust, Blur, Gaussian Blur – radius set to 10
Effects, Plugins, VM Extravaganza – Transmission

Reduce the opacity down to about 50

Activate Roses, resize by 90%, all layers unchecked
Move down and to the right slightly

Open the Moss Bit and resize to 325 pixels wide
Copy and paste as a new layer – rename Moss
Select your Freehand Selection tool with these settings:
Selection type: Point to point / Mode: Add (Shift) / Feather & Smoothing: 0 / Anti-Alias: Checked
Select around the bottom left of the moss

Selections, Modify, Feather by 5 pixels
Press delete on your keyboard once or twice
Selections, None
Move the moss down towards the bottom of the roses

Activate Back
Open Glitter Scatter and resize to 325 pixels wide
Copy and paste as a new layer – rename Glitter

Activate Moss
Copy and paste your tube as a new layer – rename Tube
Resize your tube if needed – I resized by 55%, all layers unchecked
Select your Freehand selection tool again – same settings as before
Select around the bottom of your tube

It doesn’t have to be neat, so no need for a steady hand
Selections, Modify, Feather by 5 pixels
Activate the Moss layer, Selections, Promote selection to layer
Selections, None
Move the promoted layer above your Tube layer

Open Ribbon-3 and resize to 325 pixels wide
Copy and paste as a new layer – rename Ribbon
Move below your tube layer
Press Shift +G to open Gamma Correction
Set all values to 0.7

Erase any ribbon from the left side of your tube

Activate Back, Layers, View, Current Only
Unhide the white background layer too
Select your text tool and choose a small pixel font – I used FFF Galaxy
Set your foreground to null, background to a dark color of choice
Create as vector: checked / Anti-Alias: Unchecked
Set the size to 8
Add your text of choice – I wrote ‘FALLING FOR YOU’
Objects, Align, Center in Canvas
Reposition so it’s within one of the lines – you may want to zoom in slightly

Effects, Plugins, MuRa’s Meister – Copies

Lower the opacity of the text to about 25
Select your selection tool with these settings:
Selection type: Rectangle / Mode: Add (Shift) / Anti-Alias: Checked
Select every other line that you can see on the Back layer

Selections, Promote selection to layer
Selections, None
Delete the original text layer, rename the promoted later Back Text

Activate Back layer
Using your magic wand with these settings:
Mode: Add (Shift) / Match mode: RGB Value / Tolerance: 14 / Feather: 0 / Contiguous & Anti-Alias: Checked
Click outside the back anywhere

Selections, Modify, Feather by 65
Activate the text layer
Select your eraser tool with these settings:
Shape: Round / Size: 600 / Hardness, Density, Thickness & Opacity: 100 / Step: 10 / Rotation: 0
Click a couple of times on your canvas until you get something you like – I click 10 (ten) times
Selections, None
Reduce the opacity on your text to 53
Layers, View, View All

Add the following drop shadows to the layers:
Roses – V: 3 / H: 4 / Opacity: 49 / Blur: 8.91 / Color: Black / Shadow on new layer: Unchecked
Moss – V & H: 1 / Opacity: 49 / Blur: 8.91 / Color: Black / Shadow on new layer: Unchecked
Ribbon – V: 1 / H: 3 / Opacity: 49 / Blur: 8.91 / Color: Black / Shadow on new layer: Unchecked
Tube – V & H: 3 / Opacity: 49 / Blur: 8.91 / Color: Black / Shadow on new layer: Unchecked

**Optional** erase any of the roses from below the moss
I selected the area to be deleted in my screen shot below

Activate the top layer on your layer palette
Select your text tool and choose a bold font – I used Acme Font
Set your foreground to a dark color of choice, background set to null
Create as vector and Anti-Alias both checked
Stroke width set to 2 (two)
Add your message – I wrote ‘FALLING’
Stretch it out so it’s the width of the moss
Convert to raster – rename Outline

Select your magic wand – same setting as before
Click inside each letter
Selections, Modify, Expand by 2 pixels
Add a new raster layer – name it Fill

Open Paper 2, Image, Free Rotate, 90 degrees left
Copy and paste into the selection
Selections, None
Move Fill below Outline on your layer palette
Add a drop shadow to Outline – I used:
V & H: 2 / Opacity: 60 / Blur: 6 / Color: Black / Shadow on new layer: Unchecked

Change your font to a scripty one – I used Miss le Gatees
Set your foreground to null, background to a light color
Create as vector and Anti-Alias both checked
Add the rest of your text – I wrote ‘for you’
Position slightly over the previous text
Stretch out if needed, when happy convert to raster
Add the same drop shadow as used on your Outline layer

Add your name using the same settings as above
Add your artists copyrights, scrap credits and your own taggers watermark as a new layer
Delete your white background layer
Crop away any excess canvas
Save as a JPG/PNG
All Done 🙂

I did some very slight animation on this one, using DSB Flux – Bright Noise, just to the very edges of the roses
