Supplies needed:
PSP – I used X7 but any version will do
Tube of Choice
Font of Choice – I used Andantino JF – Dots and Cross
Xero – Porcelain
Photo Effex – Scanlines

I used the awesome artwork of Barbara Jensen
You can purchase her work and a license from Barb’s store {here}
Please do not use Barb’s work without purchasing a license first.

Let’s Start
Open a new canvas 600 x 250 and flood fill with black – rename Black
Select your Pen tool with these settings:
Mode: Draw Lines & Polylines / Create on vector and Anti-Alias: Checked / Line style: Solid / Width: 50
Set your foreground to grey #AAAAAA, background set to null
Drag the sides of your canvas out so you can see grey either side
Holding your shift key, draw a horizontal line across your canvas, make it wider than the canvas
Position about 50 pixels from the top
Convert to raster and then duplicate
On the duplicate, Image, Flip
Layers, Merge, Merge Down
Rename Grey

Working on Grey
Effects, Distortion Effects, Wave
Effects, Plugins, – Dots and Cross
Selections, Select, All, Float, Defloat
Selections, Modify, Contract by 2 pixels
Activate your Black layer and press delete
Selections, None
Move the Black layer above the Grey layer

Using your Selection tool with these settings:
Selection type: Rectangle / Mode: Add (shift) / Feather: 0 / Anti-Alias: Checked
Select the top and bottom waves on the black layer
Selections, Promote Selection to layer
On the original Black layer, press delete
Selections, None

On the promoted layer – rename White
Using your manual color correction tool (mini tut here) recolor this layer White
Effects, Plugins, Xero – Porcelain
Repeat the Porcelain, using the same settings

Duplicate the White layer
On the copy – Adjust, Blur, Gaussian Blur – Radius set to 6
Rename White Blur

Activate your Black layer
Apply the following drop shadow
V&H: 3 / Opacity: 63 / Blur: 5.94 / Color: Black / Shadow on new layer: Checked
Activate Black again, repeat the drop shadow but change the V & H to -3
On the top shadow layer – Layers, Merge, Merge Down
Lower the opacity of the shadow to 55

Activate Black layer again
Effects, Plugins, Photo Effex – Scanlines
Activate White Blur
Copy and paste your tube as a new layer
Effects, Plugins, Xero – Porcelain
Use the same settings as before
Apply this drop shadow
V: 0 / H: 10 / Opacity: 45 / Blur: 5.94 / Color: Black / Shadow on new layer: Unchecked

Activate Black layer again
Copy and paste your tube again as a new layer
Position the face within the black stripe
Duplicate your tube, position a different part of your tube in the black
Keep duplicating until your black stripe is covered
Hide all layers except the tubes that cover the black stripe
Layers, Merge, Merge Visible
Unhide all other layers

Activate Black again
Using your magic wand with with these settings:
Mode: Add (Shift) / Match Mode: RGB Value / Tolerance & Feather: 0 / Contiguous & Anti-Alias: Checked
Select above and below the Black layer
Selections, Modify, Expand by 1
Selections, Modify, Feather by 2
Activate your merged layer and press delete a couple of times
Selections, None

On the merged layer
Change the blend mode to Luminance (Legacy)
Reduce the opacity to 50

Activate your main tube – the top layer
Edit, Copy Special, Copy Merged
Edit, Paste as a new layer
Adjust, Blur, Gaussian Blur – radius set to 6
Change the blend mode to Overly and reduce the opacity to 67

Add a new layer and flood fill with Black
Selections, All, Modify, Contract by 1 pixel
Press delete
Selections, None

Select your text tool and choose a font
Set your foreground to null, background to a color of choice
Create as vector and Anti-Alias both checked
Add your name
Position where best and convert to raster
Add a drop shadow – I used:
V: 0 / H: 4 / Opacity: 45 / Blur: 5.94 / Color: Black . Shadow on new layer: Unchecked

Add your artists copyrights and your own taggers watermark as a new layer
Save as a jpg/png
All Done 🙂

Another sample using the art of Vinegar, who is licensed through CDO. This one is actually a Facebook Timeline cover, so I used multiple tubes rather than just the one. Fonts used are the same as those listed in the tut.
