Goodnight Moonlight

Supplies needed:
PSP – I used X7 but any version will do
Animation Shop
Tube of Choice
Fonts of Choice – I used KG Lego House and KG Eyes Wide Open
MuRa’s Meister – Cloud
Eye Candy 4000 – Gradient Glow
Masks 42, 336, 422 and BigMask001 all by Vix

I used the awesome artwork of Melissa Dawn
You can purchase her work and a license from CDO.
Please do not use Melissa’s work without purchasing a license first.

Let’s Start
Open a new canvas 400 x 400 and flood fill with white
Add a new raster layer and name it Clouds 1
Set your foreground to #080E3E background set to #B1D5F2
Effects, Plugins, MuRa’s Meister – Clouds
Use the default settings but ensure to click Reset colors if needed
Duplicate – rename the copy Clouds 2
Hide Clouds 1 for now

Activate Clouds 2
Layers, Load/Save Mask, Load Mask from Disk
Look for Vix_Mask336 or one of choice
Source luminance, Fit to layer and hide all mask checked
Layers, Merge, Merge Group
Lower the opacity to 77 and set the blend mode to Screen
Rename Mask 1

Add a new layer, name it Mask 2
Switch your foreground and background colors round
Effects, Plugins, MuRa’s Meister – Clouds
Use the default settings but ensure to click Reset colors if needed
Layers, Load/Save Mask, Load Mask from Disk
Look for Vix_Mask42 or one of choice
Source luminance, Fit to layer and hide all mask checked
Layers, Merge, Merge Group
Resize by 90%, all layers unchecked
Lower the opacity to 65
Move this layer below Mask 1

Add a new layer, name it Mask 3 and flood fill with dark color
Layers, Load/Save Mask, Load Mask from Disk
Look for Vix_Mask432 or one of choice
Source luminance, Fit to layer and hide all mask checked
Layers, Merge, Merge Group
Resize by 90%, all layers unchecked
Repeat the resize
Move this below Mask 2

Duplicate Mask 3
On the copy – Adjust, Blur, Gaussian Blur – radius set to 5
On the original – set the opacity to 42
Blend mode set to Overlay

Activate and unhide Clouds 1
Add a new layer above Clouds 1 and flood fill with your light color
Change the blend mode of this layer to Color
Layers, Merge, Merge Down – rename Mask 4
Layers, Load/Save Mask, Load Mask from Disk
Look for Vix_BigMask001 or one of choice
Source luminance, Fit to layer and hide all mask checked
Layers, Merge, Merge Group
Resize by 90%, all layers unchecked
Ensure this layer is below your other mask layers

Activate Mask 1 – should be your top layer
Copy and paste your tube as a new layer
Resize if needed – I resized by 60%
Add a drop shadow of choice- I used:
V: 2 / H: 3 / Opacity: 65 / Blur: 9.90 / Color: Black / Shadow on new layer: Checked

Using your selection tool or freehand selection tool
Select some areas on your tube animate – I selected the 3 dangling stars
Ensure you are on your tube layer – Selections, Promote selection to layer
Selections, None
Rename the promoted layer 1
Duplicate twice, rename the copies 2 and 3

Activate 3
Adjust, Add/Remove Noise, Add Noise
Gaussian & Monochrome: Checked / Noise: 25%
Hide this layer

Activate 2
Repeat the noise using the same settings
Hide this layer

Activate 1
Repeat the noise using the same settings

Select your preset shape tool set to ellipse
Set your foreground to any color, background set to null
Create as vector and Anti-Alias both checked
Line width set to 5
Draw an ellipse smaller than your mask layers

Select your text tool and choose a font
Set your foreground to null, Background set to a light color
Create as vector and Anti-Alias both checked
Activate any later that isn’t your vector shape
Place your mouse over the edge of the vector shape until you get a +A) or +T)
Add your text – I wrote ‘goodnight’
Position where it look best and convert to raster
Effects, Plugins, Eye Candy 4000 – Gradient Glow

Repeat the above step but change your background color to your dark color
Add some more text – I wrote ‘moonlight’
Position where best and convert to raster
Add the same gradient glow but change the glow to the color used for your previous text
You can now delete the vector shape layer

Select another font
Foreground still on null, background to a color of choice
Other settings the same
Add your name and position where best
When happy, convert to raster
Apply a gradient glow using a complimentary color
Use the same drop shadow as used on your tube BUT shadow on new layer – Unchecked

Add your artists copyrights and your own taggers watermark as a new layer
Hide the white background layer
Edit, Copy Special, Copy Merged
Activate your top layer and paste as a new layer
Adjust, Blur, Gaussian Blur – radius set to 5
Change the blend mode to Soft Light and lower the opacity to 60
Crop away excess canvas

At this point you can save as a jpg/png

To Animate
Unhide your white background
Ensure layers 2 and 3 are hidden
Edit, Copy Special, Copy Merged
Open Animation Shop (AS)
Edit, Paste as a new animation

Back to PSP
Hide layer 1 and unhide layer 2
Edit, Copy Special, Copy Merged
Over to AS
Edit, Paste after current frame

Back to PSP
Hide layer 2 and unhide layer 2
Edit, Copy Special, Copy Merged
Over to AS
Edit, Paste after current frame
Save as a gif file
