Supplies needed:
PSP – I used X8 but any version will do
Animation Shop
Tube of Choice
Font of Choice – I used Signarita Anne
Eye Candy 4000 – Gradient Glow
Snow Animation of Choice – I used RD11 by Rebel Dezigns (no longer available)
Dark Frost kit by Gimptastic Scraps

I used the awesome artwork of Jennifer Janesko
You can purchase her work and a license from CDO
Please do not use Jennifer’s work without purchasing a license first.

Let’s Start
Open a new canvas 400 x 400 and flood fill with white
Open Frame 4 and resize to 200 pixels high
Copy and paste as a new layer – rename Frame
Image, Free Rotate, 90 degrees to the left

Open Element 52 and resize to 200 pixels high
Copy and paste as a new layer – rename Tree
Position on the left side of your Frame
Erase any of the frame loop you can see to the left of the tree
Add a drop shadow of choice – I used:
V: 0 / H: 2 / Opacity: 75 / Blur: 4.958 / Color: Black / Shadow on new layer: Unchecked

Open a paper of choice – I used paper 1
Resize to 225 pixels
Copy and paste as a new layer – rename Frame Back
Move below the Frame layer on your layer palette
Grab your magic wand with these settings:
Mode: Add (shift) / Match Mode: RGB Value / Tolerance & Feather: 0 / Contiguous & Anti-Alias: Checked
Activate the frame and select inside
Selections, Modify, Expand by 15 pixels
Activate Frame Back and Selections, Invert
Press delete, Selections, None

Open your tube and copy and paste as a new layer – rename Tube
Position your tube inside the frame where it looks best
Duplicate your tube and working on the Copy of Tube
Adjust, Blur, Gaussian Blur – radius set to 5
Change the blend mode to Overlay
Activate your Tube layer and change the blend mode to Luminance (Legacy)
Activate your Frame back layer
Selections, All, Float, Defloat, Invert
Activate Tube and press delete
Activate Copy of Tube and press delete
Selections, None
Activate your Frame and apply the same drop shadow as used on your Tree

Activate the white background layer
Open Element 57 and resize to 225 pixels wide
Copy and paste as a new layer
Position just above the frame
Duplicate and Image, Flip
Reposition if needed
Layers, Merge, Merge Down – rename Snowflakes

Open your paper 1 again, if still open Edit, Undo
Resize to 350 pixel
Copy and paste as a new layer
Move down below the Snowflakes layer
Layers, Load/Save Mask, Load Mask from Disk
Look for DBV Xmas Mask 14
Source luminance, Fit to layer and Hide all mask checked
Layers, Merge, Merge Group
Reduce the opacity to about 60

Activate your Tree layer which should be the top layer
Open Element 46 and resize to 25%
Copy and paste as a new layer – rename Star
Image, Flip and position at the top of the tree
Add the same drop shadow as used before

Open Element 54 and resize to 200 pixels high
Copy and paste as a new layer – rename Snow
Position over the tree and edge of the frame

Activate the Star layer
Open WordArt and resize to 150 pixels wide
Copy and paste as a new layer – rename WordArt
Positon where it looks best
Add the same drop shadow again

Select your text tool and choose a font
Set your foreground to null, background to a color of choice
Create as vector and Anti-Alias both checked
Add your name, position where it looks best
Use the nodes to stretch/angle your text if required
When happy, convert to raster
Effects, Plugins, Eye Candy 4000 – Gradient Glow

Add the same drop shadow as used throughout

Add your artists copyrights, scrap credits and your own taggers watermark as a new layer
Hide the white background
Crop away any excess canvas
At this point you can save as a jpg/png

To Animate
Unhide your white background
Edit, Copy Special, Copy Merged
Open Animation Shop (AS)
Edit, Paste as a new animation

Open your snow animation in AS
Check how many frames it has
On your tag, duplicate until it has the same amount of frames
On your Snow, Edit, Select All, Edit, Copy
Activate your tag, Edit, Select All, Edit, Paste into current Frame
Animation, View – Happy?
Change the animation speed if needed (Animation, Frame Properties)
Save as a gif file
All Done 🙂
