Eye Candy 6: Text Selection – Snow Drift
MPM_Mask138 by Millie

I used the awesome artwork of Cuddly Rigor Mortis

Let’s Start
Open a new canvas 400 x 400 and flood fill with Grey #AAAAAA
Open Element17 and resize to 250 pixels wide
Copy and paste as a new layer – rename Fence
Add a drop shadow of choice – I used:
V&H: 2 / Opacity: 48 / Blur: 7.92 / Color: Black / Shadow on new layer: Unchecked
Move the fence to the right a little

Open Element6 and resize to 250 pixels wide
Copy and paste as a new layer – rename Snow 1
Position so it sits below the fence
wf-01
Duplicate Snow 1, renaming Snow 2
Move to the left of Snow 1, then move below the Snow 1 layer

Duplicate Snow 1 again, renaming Snow 3
Image, Mirror – then move down slighty
Duplicate Snow 3, renaming Snow 4
Move Snow 4 so it’s lower then Snow 1
You should have something like this
wf-02
With Snow 4 the active layer
Open Element8 and resize to 300 pixels wide
Copy and paste as a new layer – rename Snow Logs
Position overlapping Snow 3 and Snow 4
wf-03
Activate Snow 1
Open Element16 and resize to 250 pixels high
Copy and paste as a new layer – rename Branch 1
Position overlapping the Fence, but with the end of the stem below Snow 4
Add the same drop shadow as used before

Open Element21 and resize to 250 pixels high
Copy and paste as a new layer – rename Branch 2
Image, Mirror and position over Branch 1
Apply the same drop shadow again

Copy and paste your tube of choice as a new layer – rename Tube
Resize if needed, I resized to 25%
Position next to the Branch layers
Add the same drop shadow BUT change the H to 4

Activate the grey background layer
Open Element5 and resize to 250 pixels high
Copy and paste as a new layer – rename Tree
Position on the left of the tube, so the base of the tree is under the snow
Add the same drop shadow putting the H back to 2

Open Frame1 and resize to 250 pixels wide
Copy and paste as a new layer – rename Frame
Move below the Tree layer
Image, Free Rotate, Left 15 degrees
Move down a little so the top of Branch 2 is a little higher than the frame
wf-04
Grab your magic wand with these settings:
Mode: Add (shift) / Match Mode: RGB Value / Tolerance & Feather: 0 / Contiguous & Anti-Alias: Checked
Select inside the frame
Selections, Modify, Expand by 5 pixels
Add a new raster layer renaming Frame Back
Copy and paste a paper of choice into the selection (I used paper 1)
Selections, None
Move the Frame Back below the Frame layer

Activate the Frame and add the same drop shadow as used on the Tube
Erase any excess Frame and Frame Back from below the Snow and to the left of the Tree layers
I selected the area to be deleted
wf-05
Activate the Frame again

Select your text tool and choose a bold font – I used KG What The Teacher Wants
Set your foreground a color of choice, background set to null

Type out your text of choice, I wrote ‘WINTER’
Position along the top of your tag area
DO NOT CONVERT TO RASTER

Duplicate the text, on the copy, Convert to raster
Rename Winter Outer
Click the + sign on the layer palette
Right click on the indented layer and select properties
Turn the foreground off, leave the background on whatever color its set too
Convert to raster

Copy and paste paper 2 into the selection
Selections, None
Rename Winter Fill

Activate Winter Outer

Gaussian & Monochrome: Checked / Noise: 50%
Add the following drop shadow:
V&H: 1 / Opacity: 26 / Blur: 2 / Color: Black / Shadow on new layer: Unchecked

Still with your text tool, choose another font – I used KG Eyes Wide Open
Turn your foreground to null and set your background to a color of choice
Create as vector and Anti-Alias both checked
Type your text of choice – I wrote ‘friends’
Position where it looks best and convert to raster
Add the same drop shadow as used on Winter Outline

If you have another smaller tube, add that now
I added the bird from the same tube, resized by 15%, all layers unchecked
Add the drop shadow as used on the previous Tube layer

Still with your text, choose another font – I used Illusias
Keep your settings the same changing the background color if needed

Add your artists copyrights, scrap credits and your own taggers watermark as a new layer
