Big Squishy Hugs

Supplies needed:
PSP – I used X9 but any version will do
Tube of Choice
Fonts of Choice – I used ReserviorGrunge and Refreshment Stand
Filters Unlimited 2.0 – Paper Textures
MuRa’s Meister – Copies
Lokas Software – 3D Shadow
Eye Candy 4000 – Gradient Glow
My BSH Pattern or one of choice

I used the awesome artwork of Ken Morton

Please do not use Ken’s work without purchasing a license first.

Let’s Start
Open a new canvas 600 x 200 and flood will with a color of choice
Effects, Plugins, Filters Unlimited 2.0, Paper Textures – Cotton Paper, Fine

Select your preset shape tool with these settings:
Shape: Heart / Anti-Alias & Create as Vector: Checked / Line style: Solid / Width: 8.00
Draw a heart in the middle of your canvas, not quite as tall
Objects, Align, Center in Canvas
Convert to raster and rename Main Heart

Duplicate your main heart twice, so you have 3 layers
Rename the first copy Left Heart
Rename the second copy Right Heart
Move the Main Heart to the top of the layer palette

Working on Right Heart
Effects, Plugins, MuRa’s Meister – Copies
Choose the Afterimage (v-random) setting

Effects, Image Effects, Offset

Add a drop shadow of choice – I used:
V&H: 2 / Opacity: 57 / Blur: 6.93 / Color: Black / Shadow on new layer: Unchecked

Activate Left Heart
Repeat the Copies but change the Shift X to -100 (minus 100)

Still on Left Heart
Repeat the Offset but change the Vertical to +14
Add the same drop shadow

Activate Main Heart
Grab your magic wand with these settings:
Mode: Add (shift) / Match Mode: RGB Value / Tolerance & Feather: 0 / Contiguous & Anti-Alias: Checked
Select inside the Main Heart
Selections, Modify, Expand by 5 pixels
Add a new raster layer – name it Frame Back
Move it below the Main Heart layer
Flood fill with a color of choice, I used the same color as my background
Selections, None
Effects, Plugins, Filters Unlimited 2.0, Paper Textures – Canvas, Fine

Copy and paste your tube as a new layer – rename Tube
Resize if needed, I resized to 40%, all layers unchecked
Position your tube in the Main Heart
Effects, Plugins, Lokas Software, 3D Shadow

Using your selection tool with these settings:
Selection type: Point to point / Mode: Add (shift) / Feather & Smoothing: 0 / Anti-Alias: Checked
Select any parts of your tube that you want outside the Main Heart
Selections, Promote Selection to Layer
On the original Tube layer, press Delete
Selections, None
Move the promoted selection above the Main Heart
On your Tube layer, erase any tube that is outside the Main Heart
Activate the Main Heart and add the same drop shadow as used on Left/Right Hearts

With the Main Heart still the active layer
Select your text tool and choose a bold style font – I used ReserviorGrunge
Set your foreground to Black, background to null
Stroke width set to 1
Create as vector and Anti-Alias both checked
Add your text of choice, I wrote ‘BIG SQUISHY HUGS’
Position on one side on the Main Heart
Duplicate and on the copy – Convert to raster
Rename Text Outline
On the original, press the + button on your layer palette
Now Right Click on the indented layer and select Properties
Turn off the foreground and set the background to any random color
Convert to raster and rename Text Fill

Activate Text Fill
Selections, All, Float, Defloat
Flood fill with JustFi_BSH_Pattern or one of choice
Selections, None

Activate Text Outline and duplicate
On the original layer
Effects, Plugins, Eye Candy 4000 – Gradient Glow

Select your text tool again and choose a script style font – I used Refreshment Stand
Set your foreground to null, background to white
Add the same text again, in lower case this time
Position so it sits over the previous text
When happy, Convert to Raster
Effects, Plugins, Eye Candy 4000 – Gradient Glow

Add the same drop shadow as used to on the Hearts

Add a new raster layer – name it Frame
Flood fill with Black
Selections, All, Modify, Contract by 1 pixel
Press delete on your Frame layer
Selections, None

Select your text tool again, I used the same font (Refreshment Stand)
Keep your settings the same, changing the background color if required
Add your name and position where it looks best
When happy, convert to raster
Add the same Gradient Glow, changing the color if required
Add the same drop shadow too

Add your artists copyrights and your own taggers watermark as a new layer
Save as jpg/png
All Done 😀
