Hearts & Flowers

Supplies needed:
PSP – I used X9 but any version will do
Tube of Choice
Photo of Choice
Fonts of Choice – I used Impact, Beach and Sheilazain
Eye Candy 4000 – Gradient Glow
Mask361 by Vix

I used the awesome artwork of Destiny Lauritsen and a photo by Jamie Kidd
You can purchase both of these artists work and a license from CDO
Please do not use Destiny’s or Jamie’s work without purchasing a license first.

Let’s Start
Open a new canvas 650 x 650 and flood fill with grey #929292
Select your preset shape tool with these settings:
Shape: Rectangle / Anti-Alias & Create as Vector: Checked / Line style: Solid / Width: 8.00
Set your foreground to white, background to null
Draw a rectangle approx 150w X 350h
Objects, Align, Center in Canvas
Convert to raster

Duplicate and on the copy
Effects, Image Effects, Offset

Activate the original Rectangle again
Duplicate and on the copy
Repeat the Offset BUT set both values to minus

Hide the grey background layer
Layers, Merge, Merge Visible
Rename Frame
Unhide the grey background layer

Activate the Frame layer
Select your Magic Wand with these settings:
Mode: Add (shift) / Match Mode: RGB Value / Tolerance & Feather: 0 / Contiguous & Anti-Alias: Checked
Select inside each of the 3 rectangles
Selections, Modify, Expand by 3 pixels
Add a new raster layer – name it Image
Move below the Frame layer
Copy and paste your image of choice into the selection
Selections, None

Duplicate your image and working on the copy
Adjust, Blur, Gaussian Blur – radius set to 10
Change the blend mode to Overlay
Lower the opacity to 61

Activate the Frame layer again
Select inside each rectangle with your Magic Wand using the same settings
Selections, Modify, Expand by 3 pixels
Activate the Copy of Image
Selections, Invert and press delete

Activate the Frame layer
Add a drop shadow of choice – I used:
V&H: 2 / Opacity: 63 / Blur: 6.93 / Color: Black / Shadow on new layer: Unchecked

Copy and paste your tube as a new layer – rename Tube
Resize if needed, I resized by 65%, all layers unchecked
Position your tube where it looks best
Duplicate and on the copy – Adjust, Blur, Gaussian Blur – radius set to 5
Change the blend mode to Overlay and reduce the opacity to about 59
On the original Tube layer
Add a drop shadow of choice – I used:
V: 2 / H: 5 / Opacity: 74 / Blur: 9.90 / Color: Black / Shadow on new layer: Unchecked

Select your text tool and choose a bold font – I used Impact
Set your foreground to a color of choice, background set to null
Create as vector and Anti-Alias both checked
Stroke width set to 1.5
Add your text of choice, I wrote ‘FLOWERS’ in caps
Position along the base of your tag, stretch out if required
DO NOT CONVERT
Duplicate and on the copy – Convert to raster
Rename this layer Text Outline

On the original vector layer
Click the + sign on the layer palette
Right click on the indented layer and select properties
Turn the foreground off and the background will set automatically
The color doesn’t matter
Convert to raster and rename Text Fill

With Text Fill the active layer
Copy and paste your Image as a new layer – rename Text Fill Image
Activate Text Fill – Selections, All, Float, Defloat
Position the image in the selected area where it looks best
Selections, Invert
Press delete on the Text Fill Image layer
Selections, None

Duplicate the Text Fill Image layer
On the copy, apply the same Gaussian Blur as used on the tube
Lower the opacity to about 59
Activate Text Fill layer – Selections, All, Float, Defloat, Invert
Activate Copy of Text Fill Image and press delete
Selections, None
You can now delete the Text Fill layer

Activate the grey background layer
Add a new raster layer – name it Mask 1
Flood fill with a complimentary color of choice
Layers, Load/Save Mask, Load Mask from Disk
Look for Vix_Mask361 or one of choice
Source luminance, Fit to layer and Hide all mask: Checked
Layers, Merge, Merge Group

Activate Image layer
Add a new raster layer and flood fill with white
Apply the same mask with the same settings
Layers, Merge, Merge Group
Position so some of the text is over the image
Duplicate and position in another place over the image

Layers, Merge, Merge Down
Rename Image Mask

Activate Image
Selections, All, Float, Defloat, Invert
Activate Image Mask and press delete
Selections, None

Activate Copy of Tube
Select your text tool again and choose a script style font – I used Beach
Set your foreground to null, background to a color of choice
Create as vector and Anti-Alias both checked
Type your text of choice, I wrote ‘hearts &’ in lower case
Position where it looks best and convert to raster
Rename Top Text

Effects, 3D Effects, Inner Bevel

Adjust, Add/Remove Noise, Add Noise
Gaussian & Monochrome: Checked / Noise: 5%

Effects, Plugins, Eye Candy 4000 – Gradient Glow

Repeat the Gradient GLow with these settings:

Add a drop shadow of choice – I used:
V: 2 / H: 4 / Opacity: 48 / Blur: 11.88 / Color: Black / Shadow on new layer: Unchecked

Select your text tool again and choose another font – I used Sheilazain
Keep your settings the same, changing the background color if needed
Add your name and position where it looks best
When happy, convert to raster
Effects, Plugins, Eye Candy 4000 – Gradient Glow

Add the same drop shadow as just used

Delete the grey background layer
Crop away any excess canvas
Resize if required
Add your artists & photo copyrights and your own taggers watermark as a new layer
Save as jpg/png
All Done 😀
