Cracking Easter

Supplies needed:
PSP – I used X9 but any version will do
Tube of Choice
Fonts of Choice – I used Bible Stories, Hey Betty and Lucille Handlettering
WSL Mask123 by Chelle
Eye Candy 6: Text Selection – Gradient Glow

I used the awesome artwork of Elias Chatzoudis
You can purchase his work and a license from CDO
Please do not use Elias’ work without purchasing a license first.

Let’s Start
Open a new canvas 450 x 450 and flood fill with grey #AAAAAA
Select your preset shape tool with these settings:
Shape: Ellipse / Anti-Alias & Create as Vector: Checked / Line style: Solid / Width: 8.00
Set your foreground to white and your background to null
Draw a circle about half the size of your canvas
Objects, Align, Center in Canvas
Convert to raster

Draw another circle smaller than the original
Position so it’s off center to the original

Convert to raster layer
Layers, Merge, Merge Down – rename Circle Frame

Select your magic wand with these settings:
Mode: Add (shift) / Match Mode: RGB Value / Tolerance & Feather: 0 / Contiguous & Anti-Alias: Checked
Select in between the 2 circles of your circle frame
Selections. Modify, Expand by 3 pixels
Add a new raster layer – name it Outer Frame Back

Set your foreground to a color of choice from your tube
Set your background to a complimentary color of choice from your tube
Change your foreground to a fore/back gradient with these settings

Flood fill the selected area
Selections, None

Activate Circle Frame
Effects, 3D Effects, Inner Bevel

Add a drop shadow of choice – I used:
V&H: 2 / Opacity: 65 / Blur: 13.86 / Color: Black / Shadow on new layer: Unchecked

Copy and paste your tube as a new layer – rename Tube
Resize if needed, I resized by 80%, all layers unchecked
Position where it looks best
Grab your selection tool with these settings:
Selection type: Rectangle / Mode: Add (Shift) / Feather: 0 / Anti-Alias: Checked
Select part of the tube you want behind the frame

Selections, Promote Selection to layer
On the original tube layer, press delete
Selections, None
Rename the Promoted Layer – Back Tube
Move this layer below Outer Frame Back

With Back Tube active
Add the same drop shadow
Activate Tube and add the same drop shadow BUT check the Shadow on New Layer box
Now carefully erase any shadow you can see on the tube

Activate Outer Frame Back
Select inside with your magic wand (same settings as before)
Add a new raster layer – name it Middle Frame Back
Flood fill with a color of choice
Selections, None
Effects, Texture Effects, Weave

Move below Back Tube layer

Activate the grey background layer
Select your preset shape tool with the same settings as before
Set your foreground to a color of choice, Background set to null
Draw a circle slightly larger than your Circle Frame

Objects, Align, Center in Canvas
Convert to raster – rename Blur
Adjust, Blur, Gaussian Blur – radius set to 6

Activate the grey background layer again
Add a new raster layer – rename Mask
Floor fill with another color of choice
Layers, Load/Save Mask, Load Mask from Disk
Look for WSL_Mask123 or mask of choice
Source luminance, Fit to layer and Hide all mask: Checked
Layers, Merge, Merge Group

Activate your Tube which should be your top layer
Select your text tool and choose a font – I used Hey Betty
Set your foreground to null, Background to a color of choice
Create as vector and Anti-Alias both checked
Add your text of choice, I wrote ‘CRACKING’
Position where it looks best and convert to raster
Effects, Plugins, Eye Candy 6: Text Selection – Gradient Glow

Add the same drop shadow BUT uncheck the Shadow on new layer box

Change your font to another – I used Bible Stories
Keep your setting the same but change your background color to the color you used for the Gradient Glow
Add some more text, I wrote ‘have a’
Position where it looks best with your previous text
Convert to raster
Add the same gradient glow, but change the color to the text color from your first text
Add the same drop shadow

Change your font again – I used Lucille Handlettered
Keep your settings the same
Add the last of your text, I wrote ‘EASTER’
Position where it looks best
Convert to raster and add the same gradient glow and drop shadow

Add your name using a font of choice – I used Bible Stories again
I set the color back to the one I used for the first text
Position where it looks best and convert to raster
Add the same gradient glow (changing color if needed) and the same drop shadow

Add your artists copyrights and your own taggers watermark as a new layer
Delete the white background layer
Crop away any excess canvas
Save as a jpg/png
All Done 😀
