Wash Day Blues

Supplies needed:
PSP – I used X9 but any version will do
Tube of Choice
Fonts of Choice – I used FFF Viewpoint, Arriére Garde and Inspiration
Eye Candy 4000 – Gradient Glow
UFMask3 by Urban Fairytales

I used the awesome artwork of Alena Lazareva
You can purchase her work and a license from CDO
Please do not use Alena’s work without purchasing a license first.

Let’s Start
Open a new canvas 400 x 400 and flood fill with white
Add a new raster layer – rename Mask
Set your foreground to a color of choice from your tube
Set your background to a complimentary color from your tube
Change your foreground to a fore/back gradient mix
Style: Linear / Angle: 0 / Repeats: 0
Flood fill your mask layer with the gradient

Layers, Load/Save Mask, Load Mask from Disk
Look for UFmask3 or mask of choice
Source luminance, Fit to layer, Hide all mask and Invert transparency: Checked
Layers, Merge, Merge Group

Copy and paste your tube as a new layer – rename Mask Tube
Position where it looks best, don’t worry if it’s outside the mask area

Duplicate your tube, rename the copy Main Tube
On the Mask Tube, apply the same mask with the same settings
Activate Main Tube and erase from the bottom and right of the mask area (or the left if your tube is on the left)
This is what I have now

Add a drop shadow of choice – I used:
V: 0 / H: -4 / Opacity: 44 / Blur: 7.92 / Color: Black / Shadow on new layer: Checked
Carefully erase any shadow you can see on your tube

Grab your selection tool with these settings:
Selection type: Rectangle / Mode: Add (Shift) / Feather: 0 / Anti-Alias: Checked
Hide Main Tube and Shadow
Using your selection tool, draw a selection round the gap in the mask

Activate your Mask layer and press delete
Activate Mask Tube and press delete
DO NOT DESELECT YET
Selections, Load/Save Selection, Save Selection to Alpha Channel
Selections, None

You can unhide Main Tube and Shadow now
Grab your selection tool again, with the same settings
Activate Mask Tube
Select the outer edge

Selections, Promote Selection to Layer
On the original Mask Tube layer, press delete
Selections, None
On the Promoted Selection, change the blend mode to Luminance (Legacy)

Activate your Mask layer
Select yout text tool and choose a pixel font – I used FFF Viewpoint
Set your forgeground to null, background set to black
Create as vector: Checked / Anti-Alias: OFF
Type out your word/phrase of choice, repeat so it covers the whole center of the Mask

Position where it looks best and convert to raster – rename Back Text
Selections, Load/Save Selection, Load Selection from Alpha Channel
Click OK and then press delete
Selections, None
Erase any text outside the center part of the Mask
Change the blend mode to Soft Light and reduce the opacity to about 67

Grab your selection tool, same settings as before
Select random words
Selections, Promote Selection to Layer
Selections, None
Using your Manual Color Correction tool (mini tut here) recolor the black text to white

Change your font to another of choice – I used Arriére Garde
Keep your foreground on null, set your background to a color of choice
Keep the settings the same, but turn the Anti-Alias back on
Type out your word/phrase and position along the top of the Mask
Convert to raster and duplicate
On the copy, Image, Free Rotate, 90 Right
Position along the right edge of the Mask
Layers, Merge, Merge Down
Duplicate and on the copy, Image, Free Rotate, 90 Right
Position so it lines up with the bottom and left side of the frame
Layers, Merge, Merge Down – rename Outer Text

With your Outer Text active
Using your selection tool (same settings as before)
Select one of the words on each side of the mask
Using your Manual Color Correction tool again, change the color to a complimentary color
Selections, None
Duplicate and on the copy – Adjust, Blur, Gaussian Blur – radius set to 3
Change the blend mode to Screen or a mode of choice

Delete the white background layer
Crop away any excess canvas
Edit, Copy Special, Copy Merged
Paste as a new layer – rename Top
Layers, Arrange, Bring to Top
Image, Increase Canvas Size to 400 x 400, central placement selected
Adjust, Blur, Gaussian Blur – radius set to 6
Change the blend mode to Overlay and reduce the opacity to about 61

Select your text tool again and choose another font – I used Inspiration
Keep your settings the same, changing the background color if needed
Add your name and position where it looks best
When happy, convert to raster
Effects, Plugins, Eye Candy 4000 – Gradient Glow

Duplicate and on the original – Adjust, Blur, Gaussian Blur – radius set to 2

Add your artists copyrights and your own taggers watermark as a new layer
Crop away any excess canvas
Save as a jpg/png
All Done 😀
