Winter Memories

Supplies needed:
PSP – I used X9 but any version will do
Animation Shop
Tube of Choice
Font of Choice – I used Socialite
DSB Flux – Bright Noise
Xero – Porcelain
Eye Candy 4000 – Gradient Glow
Mask17 by Me
Keith Garvey Tube/Scrap Bundle pkg208 by Foxys Designz
Snow Animation of Choice – I used one by mdc [here]

You can purchase his work and a license from CDO
Please do not use Keith’s work without purchasing a license first.

Let’s Start
Open a new canvas 550 x 550 and flood fill with white
Open Frame1 and resize to 425 pixels wide
Copy and paste as a new layer – rename Frame Base
Adjust, Sharpness, Sharpen
Duplicate the Frame base 3 times so you have 4 frame layers in total
Rename the copies: Frame 1, Frame 2 and Frame 3

With Frame 3 the active layer
Effects, Plugins, DSB Flux – Bright Noise
Intensity: 45 / Mix: Click once
Hide Frame 3

Activate Frame 2
Apply the same Bright Noise, clicking noise once again
Hide this layer
Activate Frame 1
Apply the same Bright Noise, clicking noise once again

Activate Frame Base
Using your magic wand with these settings:
Mode: Add (shift) / Match Mode: RGB Value / Tolerance & Feather: 0 / Contiguous & Anti-Alias: Checked
Click inside the inner most circle
Selections, Modify, Expand by 3 pixels
Add a new raster layer – name it Frame Back 1
Copy and paste a paper of choice into the selection, I used Paper7
Selections, None
Move Frame Back 1 below Frame Base

Activate Frame Base
Select your freehand selection tool with these settings:
Selection type: Point to point / Mode: Add (shift) / Feather & Smoothing: 0 / Anti-Alias: Checked
Select round the outer and inner rings of the frame

Add a new raster layer – name it Frame Back 2
Copy and paste another paper of choice into the selection, I used Paper9
Selections, None
Move Frame Back 1 below Frame Back 2

Activate Frame Base
Add a drop shadow of choice – I used:
V: 2 / H: – 2 / Opacity: 55 / Blur: 7.92 / Color: Black / Shadow on new layer: Unchecked

Activate Frame 3 but keep it hidden
Open Element32 and resize to 450 pixels high
Copy and paste as a new layer – rename Tree
Position on the side of the Frame
Add the same drop shadow as just used BUT change the opacity to about 25

Open Element41 and resize to 450 pixels wide
Copy and paste as a new layer – rename Snow Log
Position along the bottom of the frame
Open Element31 and resize to 450 pixels wide
Copy and paste as a new layer – rename Snow
Position behind the Snow Log where it looks best

Open Element1 and resize to 250 pixels high
Copy and paste as a new layer – rename Branch
Position behind the Tree layer
Image, Free Rotate, 20 degrees to the Left
Add the same drop shadow

Activate Frame Back 1
Open Element17 and resize by 65%
Copy and paste as a new layer – rename Back Trees
Change the blend mode to Luminance (Legacy)
Reduce the opacity to about 75

Activate Snow Log
Copy and paste your tube as a new layer – rename Tube
Resize if needed, I resized to 65%, all layers unchecked
Position your tube where it looks best
Duplicate and on the copy – Effects, Plugins, Xero – Porcelain
Use the default settings
Adjust, Blur, Gaussian Blur – radius set to 5
Change the blend mode to Overlay and reduce the opacity to 65
On the original, add a drop shadow of choice, I used:
V: 2 / H: -10 / Opacity: 50 / Blur: 7.92 / Color: #212E3E / Shadow on new layer: Unchecked

Open WordArt1 and resize to 450 pixels wide
Copy and paste as a new layer – rename Wordart
Position where it looks best
Add a drop shadow of choice – I used:
V: 2 / H: -2 / Opacity: 50 / Blur: 7.92 / Color: #212E3E / Shadow on new layer: Unchecked
Repeat the drop shadow again, using the same settings
Repeat the drop shadow again

Activate the white background layer
Open a paper of choice, I used Paper3
Resize to 550 pixels
Copy and paste as a new layer – rename Mask
Layers, Load/Save Mask, Load Mask from Disk
Look for JustFi_Mask017 or mask of choice
Source luminance, Fit to layer and Hide all mask: Checked
Layers, Merge, Merge Group
Duplicate and change the blend mode on the copy to Multiply
Duplicate the copy, leave the blend mode on Multiply

Activate the Copy of Tube, which should e your top layer
Select your text tool and choose a font – I used Socialite
Set your foreground to null, background to a color of choice
Create as vector and Anti-Alias both checked
Add your name and position where it looks best
When happy, convert to raster
Duplicate and on the copy, change the color using your manual color correction tool (mini tut here) to a complimentary color
Select your eraser tool with these settings:
Shape: Circle / Size: 10 / Hardness, Density, Thickness & Opacity: 100 / Step: 10 / Rotation: 0
Carefully erase all but one of the letters
On the original, erase the one letter you left on the copy
Still on the original – Effects, Plugins, Eye Candy 4000 – Gradient Glow
Set the color to that of your copy of text

On your copy of text – Adjust, Add/Remove Noise, Add Noise
Gaussian & Monochrome: Checked / Noise: 25%

Add your artists copyrights, scrap credits and your own taggers watermark as a new layer
Hide the white background and crop away any excess canvas
Save as a jpg/png

To Animate
Unhide the white background layer
Activate Frame Back 1
Selections, All, Float, Defloat
Press delete on your white background layer and all 3 mask layers
Selections, None

Layers, View, None
Now unhide Frame Back 1 and Back Trees
Edit, Copy Special, Copy Merged
Open Animation Shop (AS)
Edit, Paste as a new Animation
Open your animation of choice and check how many frames it has
Duplicate your tag image until it has the same amount of frames
On your Animation – Edit, Select All, Copy
On your Tag – Edit, Select All, Paste into selected frame

Animation, Cull Animation
You need to have a number of frame that will divide by 3
I have 10 frames and need 9
So I set mine to remove 1 frame for every 10

If you used a different animation to me, you will need to do some maths *sorry*

Now Back to PSP
Layers, View, All
Hide Frame Back 1, Back Trees, Frame 2 and Frame 3
Edit, Copy Special, Copy Merged
Over to AS
Edit, Paste as a new animation
Back to PSP
Hide Frame 1 and unhide Frame 2
Edit, Copy Special, Copy Merged
Over to AS
Edit, Paste after current Frame
Back to PSP
Hide Frame 2 and unhide Frame 3
Edit, Copy Special, Copy Merged
Over to AS
Edit, Paste after current Frame

Staying in AS now
You should have 3 frames
Edit, Select All, Copy
Click on the last Frame and paste after current frame
Keep repeating this, clicking on the last frame and pasting after current frame until you have the same number of frames as your culled animation
Edit, Select All, Copy
On your culled animation – Edit, Select All, Paste into selected Frame
Line it all up
Save as a gif file
All Done!
