My Life’s A Circus

Supplies needed:
PSP – I used X9 but any version will do
Animation Shop
Tube of Choice
Font of Choice – I used Orchid Bold
Toadies – What Are You?
Eye Candy 4000 – Gradient Glow
BigMask001 by Vix
Animation of Choice – I used ani601 from pkg200 by Rebel Dezigns

I used the awesome artwork of Misstigri
You can purchase her work and a license from CDO
Please do not use Misstigri’s work without purchasing a license first.

Let’s Start
Open a new canvas 500 x 500 and flood fill with white
Select your preset shape tool with these settings:
Shape: Ellipse / Anti-Alias & Create as Vector: Checked / Line style: Solid / Width: 10.00
Set your foreground to black, background set to null
Draw a circle, Objects, Align, Center in canvas
DO NOT CONVERT TO RASTER

Duplicate and hide the original (still as vector)
On the copy, convert to raster and rename Frame
Using your Manual Color Correction tool (mini tut here)
Recolor to a complimentary color from your tube

Effects, 3D Effects, Inner Bevel

Adjust, Add/Remove Noise, Add Noise
Uniform & Monochrome: Checked / Noise: 15%

Copy and paste your tube as a new layer – rename Tube
Position so the top is just above the Frame
Duplicate and on the original, add a drop shadow of choice – I used:
V&H: 2 / Opacity: 60 / Blur: 12.87 / Color: Black / Shadow on new layer: Unchecked
On the copy – Adjust, Blur, Gaussian Blur – radius set to 12
Change the blend mode to Overlay and reduce to the opacity to 80

Duplicate the Frame
Move the Copy of Frame above the Copy of Tube
Erase any of the frame that covers the top part of the tube
Erase any tube and copy of tube you can see below the bottom of the frame

Activate the white background layer
Select your pen tool with these settings:
Mode: Draw lines & polylines / Create on Vector: Checked / Line style: Solid / Width: 25.00
Set your foreground to a color form your tube, background set to null
Hold your shift key and draw a vertical line, larger than your frame

Duplicate and working on the copy
Use your Manual Color Correction tool and recolor the copy to another color from your tube
Effects, Image Effects, Offset

Duplicate and recolor to another color from your tube
Repeat the Offset
Hide all layers, except the 3 lines
Layers, Merge, Merge Visible – rename Lines
Unhide the layers – Layers, View, View All

On your Lines layer
Duplicate and move next to the original
Layers, Merge, Merge Down
Keep duplicating and moving until it fills the frame

Image, Free Rotate, 35 degrees to the Right

Activate the orignal frame
Select your Magic Wand with these settings:
Mode: Add (shift) / Match Mode: RGB Value / Tolerance & Feather: 0 / Contiguous & Anti-Alias: Checked
Select outside the Frame
Selections, Modify, Expand by 5 pixels
Activate your Lines layer and press delete
Selections, None

Activate your preset shape tool
Activate and unhide the vector circle from earlier
Pull it down so its a little larger than your frame
Objects, Align, Center in Canvas

Activate Frame
Select your text tool and choose a font – I used Peignot
Set your foreground to null, background to a color of choice
Create as vector and Anti-Alias both checked
Position your mouse over the edge of the vector circle (still on the frame layer)
Once you get a +A) or +T) symbol, click and add your text of choice
I wrote ‘my life’s a circus
Repeat so it goes round the circle
When happy, convert to raster – rename Circle Text

Activate the Vector circle again and convert to raster
Using the Manual Color Correction tool, recolor to a complimentary color
Adjust, Blur, Gaussian Blur – radius set to 7
Rename Blur

Activate your Circle Text
Duplicate and on the original
Set your foreground and background to the color of the text
Effects, Plugins, Toadies – What Are You?
Set X & Y to 20
Move below the Blur layer and reduce the opacity to 75
Rename Toadies

Activate the Copy of Circle text
Effects, Plugins, Eye Candy 4000 – Gradient Glow

Hide the white background layer
Crop away any excess canvas
Increase canvas size to 50 on each side, central placement selected

Unhide the white background and reflood fill with white
Add another new layer above the white background
Flood fill with a color of choice – rename Mask
Layers, Load/Save Mask, Load Mask from Disk
Look for Vix_BigMask001 or Mask of choice
Source lumiance, Fit to layer and Hide all mask: Checked
Layers, Merge, Merge Group
Resize to 85%, all layers unchecked

Activate the Frame
Select inside with your magic wand (same settings as before)
Selections, Modify, Expand by 5 pixels
Activate White Background layer and press delete
Activate Mask and press delete
Activate Toadies and press delete
Selections, None
Reduce the opacity of your Lines layer to about 67

Activate Copy of Frame and select your text tool again
Choose another font – I used Orchids Bold
Set your foreground to null, background to a color of choice
Create as vector and Anti-Alias both checked
Add your name and position where it looks best
When happy, convert to raster
Effects, Eye Candy 4000 – Gradient Glow

Add the same drop shadow as used earlier

Add your artists copyrights and your own taggers watermark as a new layer
Hide the white background layer
Crop away any excess canvas
At this point you can save as a jpg/png

To Animate
Activate the Lines layer
Layers, View, Current Only
Edit, Copy Special, Copy Merged
Open Animation Shop (AS)
Edit, Paste as a new animation

Staying in AS
Open yout animation of choice
On your Lines image, duplicate so it has the same number of frames as your animation
Edit, Select All
On the Animation – Edit, Select All, Edit, Copy
On your Lines image – Edit, Paste into selected Frame
Position where it looks best, don’t worry if its outside the lines circle

Back to PSP
Layers, View, All
Hide the Lines layer
Edit, Copy Special, Copy Merged
Over to AS – Edit, Paste as a new animation
Duplicate so it has the same number of frames as your Lines animation
Edit, Select All, Edit, Copy
On your Lines Animation – Edit, Select All, Edit, Paste into selected frame
Line it up
Save as a gif file
All Done 😀
