Never Forget

Supplies needed:
PSP – I used X9 but any version will do
Tube of Choice
Fonts of Choice – I used Teachers Pet and Mutiara
Filters Unlimited 2.0 – Paper Textures

I used the awesome artwork of Simona Candini
You can purchase her work and a license from CDO
Please do not use Simona’s work without purchasing a license first.

Let’s Start
Open a new canvas 650 x 250 and flood fill with a color of choice – rename Background
Select your preset shape tool with these settings:
Shape: Rectangle / Anti-Alias & Create as Vector: Checked / Line style: Solid / Width: 3.00
Set your foreground to null, background a color of choice
Draw a Square in the bottom left corner of you canvas
Convert to raster and rename S1

Change your background color
Draw another Square, slightly smaller than the first and overlapping the first a little
Convert to raster and rename S2
Continue changing the background color and adding smaller squares until you are happy
This is what I had

Add a drop shadow of choice to each S layer – I used:
V: 2 / H: 5 / Opacity: 30 / Blur: 7.92 / Color: Black / Shadow on new layer: Unchecked

Activate the Background layer
Effects, Plugins, <I.C.Net Software>, Filters Unlimited 2.0 – Paper Textures
Choose a texture and settings that you like
I used Striped Paper, Fine with these settings:

Copy and paste your tube as a new layer – rename Base Tube
Position on the opposite of the canvas to your Squares – Mirror if needed
Change the blend mode to Soft Light and reduce the opacity to 67

Select your selection tool with these settings:
Selection type: Rectangle / Mode: Add (Shift) / Feather: 0 / Anti-Alias: Checked
Draw a vertical selection over part of your Base Tube

Add a new raster layer – name BG
Flood fill with the same original color you used on your Background
Keep Selected
Move BG below Base Tube layer
Activate Base Tube – Selection, Promote Selection to Layer
Selections, None
On the Promoted Selection layer – rename Top Base Tube
Lower the opacity to 50

Select your Preset shape tool with the same settings as before
Set your foreground to a darker shade than the color used on your Background
Choose a line style of choice, I used Dash with ArrowHead End
Draw a rectangle round the BG layer, make it taller than your canvas

Convert to raster and rename BG Frame
Add a drop shadow of choice – I used:
V: 0 / H: 2 / Opacity: 30 / Blur: 1.98 / Color: Black / Shadow on new layer: Unchecked

Activate your top Square layer
Copy and paste your tube as a new layer – rename Main Tube
Resize if needed, I resized to 33%, all layers unchecked
Position where it looks best
Add the same drop shadow as used on the Square layers

Add a new raster layer and name it Frame
Move this layer below Main Tube on your layer palette
Flood fill with a color of choice
Selections, All, Modify, Contract by 1 pixel – press delete
Contract by 10 pixels and flood fill with the same color again
Contract by 1 pixel and press delete again
Selections, None
Adjust, Add/Remove Noise, Add Noise
Gaussian & Monochrome: Checked / Noise: 21%

Activate BG Frame
Erase any part that is inside the Frame

Activate the Frame
Grab your Magic Wand with these settings:
Mode: Add (shift) / Match Mode: RGB Value / Tolerance & Feather: 0 / Contiguous & Anti-Alias: Checked
Select inside the two lines of the Frame
Selections, Modify, Expand by 1 pixel
Edit, Copy Special, Copy Merged
Paste as a new layer – rename Inner Frame
Move below the Frame layer
Adjust, Hue & Saturation, Colorize

Activate the Frame and add the same drop shadow as used on the BG Frame

Select your text tool and choose a pixel font – I used Teachers Pet
Create as vector: Checked / Anti-Alias: Off
Set your foreground to null and your background to a color of choice
Type out a message of choice – I wrote ‘Never Forget’
Repeat so it fills one of your squares
When happy, convert to raster
Change the blend mode to Soft Light
Position above the square it’s filling on your layer palette
Erase any that is outside the square

Repeat and place into another square
Change the blend mode to Soft Light and reduce the opacity to 71

Activate your Main Tube layer
Select your text tool again and choose a font – I used Mutiara
Create as vector and Anti-Alias both checked (Ensure you turn the Anti-Alias back on)
Set your foreground to null, background to a color of choice
Add your name and position where it looks best
When happy, convert to raster
Adjust, Add/Remove Noise, Add Noise
Gaussian & Monochrome: Checked / Noise: 15%
Add a drop shadow of choice – I used:
V: 0 / H: 4 / Opacity: 15 / Blur: 1.98 / Color: Black / Shadow on new layer: Unchecked
Effects, 3D Effects, Inner Bevel

Add your artists copyrights and your own taggers watermark as a new layer
Save as jpg/png
All Done
