The Dragonfly

Supplies needed:
PSP – I used X9 but any version will do
Tube of Choice
Font of Choice – I used Romantically
Mask_0013_DFly by Vivienne
CM_Bday19_Mask1 by Tonya
IB-Vinegar-16-2 by Chaos Priestess

I used the awesome artwork of Jennifer Janesko
You can purchase her work and a license from CDO
Please do not use Jennifer’s work without purchasing a license first.

Let’s Start
Open a new canvas 550 x 550 and flood fill with grey #D6D6D6
Open Frame 1 and resize to 400 pixels wide
Copy and paste as a new layer – rename Frame
Grab your Freehand Selection tool with these settings:
Selection type: Point to point / Mode: Add (shift) / Feather & Smoothing: 0 / Anti-Alias: Checked
Draw a selection round the side of your Frame

Selections, Promote Selection to Layer
Selections, None
Rename the Promoted Selection – Bricks
Change the blend mode to Multiply

Activate the Grey Background layer
Open El23, copy and paste as a new layer – rename Frame Fill 1
Position so part is inside the Frame

Select your Magic Wand with these settings:
Mode: Add (shift) / Match Mode: RGB Value / Tolerance & Feather: 0 / Contiguous & Anti-Alias: Checked
Activate the Frame and select inside
Selections, Modify, Expand by 3 pixels
Selections, Invert and press delete on Frame Fill 1
Selections, None

Open a paper of choice and resize to 400 pixels
I used Paper6
Copy and paste as a new layer above Frame Fill 1
Rename this layer Frame Fill 2
Position the paper where it looks best within your Frame,t hen change the blend mode to Hard Light
Reduce the opacity to 80
Activate Frame Fill 1 – Selections, All, Float, Defloat, Invert
Activate Frame Fill 2 and press delete
Selections, None

Activate the Grey Background layer
Open El05 and resize to 375 pixels high
Copy and paste as a new layer – rename Leaves
Position on the right side of the Frame
Add a drop shadow of choice – I used:
V: 2 / H: 4 / Opacity: 46 / Blur: 6.93 / Color: Black / Shadow on new layer: Unchecked
Erase any stem that is below the Frame
I selected the area to be deleted

Activate Brick layer – which should be the top layer
Open El22 and resize to 350 pixels high
Copy and paste as a new layer – rename Bullrush
Position on the right edge of your frame where it looks best
Add the same drop shadow

Open El19 and resize to 50%
Copy and paste as a new layer – rename Flower 1
Position at the base of the Bullrush
Add the same drop shadow again

Open El02 and resize to 50%
Copy and paste as a new layer – rename Flower 2
Image, Mirror
Move below the Flower 1 layer
Position Flower 2 so its a little higher than Flower 1

Add the same drop shadow

Open El01 and resize to 50%
Copy and paste as a new layer – rename Dragonfly
Position where it looks best on the tag
Add the same drop shadow

Activate Frame Fill 2
Copy and paste your tube as a new layer – rename Tube
Resize if needed, I left mine at 100%
Position where it looks best within the Frame
I mirrored mine as it looked better
Duplicate and on the copy – Adjust, Blur, Gaussian Blur – radius set to 10
Change the blend mode to Soft Light
On the original Tube layer, change the blend mode to Luminance (Legacy)
Activate Frame Fill 2 – Selections, All, Float, Defloat, Invert
Press delete on both Tube and Copy of Tube layers
Selections, None

Activate Frame Fill 1 and duplicate it
Move above the two tube layers
Change the blend mode to Soft Light

Activate the grey background layer
Open El18 and resize to 65%
Copy and paste as a new layer – rename Heart
Position behind the tag where it looks best
Duplicate and on the original – Adjust, Blur, Gaussian Blur – radius set to 5

Open a paper of choice – I used Paper2
Resize to 550 pixels
Open El23, copy and paste as a new layer onto your paper
Crop the paper to 550 pixels
Edit, Copy Special, Copy Merged

On your main tag, activate the grey background again
Copy and paste as a new layer – rename Mask
Image, Mirror
Layers, Load/Save Mask, Load Mask from Disk
Look for Mask_0013_DFly or mask of choice
Source luminance, Fit to layer and Hide all mask: Checked
Layers, Merge, Merge Group
Resize by 90%, all layers unchecked

Activate the grey background again
Add a new raster layer and name it Mask 2
Flood fill with a color of choice – I used #AB243A
Layers, Load/Save Mask, Load Mask from Disk
Look for CM_Bday19_Mask1 or mask of choice
Source luminance, Fit to layer and Hide all mask: Checked
Layers, Merge, Merge Group
Resize by 90%, all layers unchecked

Activate your top layer
Select your text tool and choose a font – I used Romantically
Set your foreground to null, background set to a color of choice
Create as vector and Anti-Alias both checked
Add your name and position where it looks best
When happy, convert to raster
Duplicate and activate the original
Adjust, Brightness & Contrast, Brightness/Contract

Effects, Image Effects, Offset

Add the same drop shadow

Add your artists copyrights, scrap credits and your own taggers watermark as a new layer
Delete the grey background layer
Crop away any excess canvas
Save as a jpg/png
All Done
