‘Tis The Season

Supplies needed:
PSP – I used X9 but any version will do
Tube of Choice
Fonts of Choice – I used Snow Blue, Al_LePorsche and Quake Love
Eye Candy 4000 – Gradient Glow
MaskHalloween2012-08NotHallow by Vix
IB-PInUpToons-256-1 by Chaos Priestess

I used the awesome artwork of PinUp Toons

Let’s Start
Open a new canvas 650 x 650 and flood fill with grey #C0C0C0
Open Frame1 and resize to 500 pixels wide
Copy and paste as a new layer – rename Frame
Copy and paste your tube as a new layer – rename Tube
Move below the Frame layer
Position so the top part of the tube, is just above the frame
Duplicate the frame, on the copy – Adjust, Blur, Gaussian Blur – radius set to 10
Change the blend mode to Overlay and reduce the opacity to 63
On the original tube layer – add a drop shadow of choice, I used:
V: 2 / H: 4 / Opacity: 54 / Blur: 8.91 / Color: Black / Shadow on new lyer: Unchecked

Grab your selection tool with these settings:
Selection type: Rectangle / Mode: Add (Shift) / Feather: 0 / Anti-Alias: Checked
Select the top part of your tube that is covered by the Frame

Activate Tube – Selections, Promote Selection to Layer
Rename this layer Top Tube 1
Layers, Arrange, Bring to Top
Activate Tube again and press delete
Activate Copy of Tube – Selections, Promote Selection to Layer
Rename this layer Top Tube 2
Layers, Arrange, Bring to Top
Activate Tube again and press delete
Selections, None
Activate Top Tube 2
Set the blend mode to Overlay and reduce the opacity to 63

Activate Copy of Tube
Grab your Freehand Selection tool with these settings:
Selection type: Point to point / Mode: Add (shift) / Feather & Smoothing: 0 / Anti-Alias: Checked
Draw the Tube that is outside the Frame

Press delete
Activate Tube and press delete
Selections, None

Activate the Frame layer
Grab your Magic Wand with these settings:
Mode: Add (shift) / Match Mode: RGB Value / Tolerance & Feather: 0 / Contiguous & Anti-Alias: Checked
Select inside the Frame
Selections, Modify, Expand by 3 pixels
Copy and paste a paper of choice as a new layer – I used Paper4
Position the part you want inside the frame
Selections, Invert and press delete on the paper
Selections, None
Rename the paper – Frame Back
Move this below the Tube layer

Activate the Frame, add the same drop shadow as used on the Tube layer
Open El26 and resize to 400 pixels high
Copy and paste as a new layer – rename Tree
Position on one side of the Frame
Add the same drop shadow

Open El24 and resize to 250 pixels
Copy and paste as a new layer – rename Berries
Position over the top of the Tree
Add the same drop shadow

Open El25
Copy and paste as a new layer – rename Lamp
Position on the opposite side to the Tree
You want the top of the lamp, just above the top of your tube
Don’t worry about the bottom of it

Add the same drop shadow

Open El22 and resize to 450 pixels wide
Copy and paste as a new layer – rename Snow 1
Position along the base of the Frame
Duplicate and rename the copy Snow 3
Image, Mirror, then Image, Flip
Move below Snow 1 and position where it looks best with Snow 1
This is what I have

Open El21 and resize to 450 pixels wide
Copy and paste as a new layer – rename Snow 2
Position Snow 2 between Snow 1 and Snow 3

Activate the Lamp layer
Erase any of the pole you can see below the Snow layers

Open El02 and resize to 125 pixels wide
Copy and paste as a new layer – rename Sack
Position between the Snow layers where it looks best
Add the same drop shadow

Activate Snow 1 – which should be the top snow layer
Open El01 and resize to 100 pixels high
Copy and paste as a new layer – rename Present
Position in front of the sack and add the same drop shadow

Activate Top Tube 2 – this should be the top layer
Select your text tool and choose a font – I used Snow Blue
Set your foreground to null, background to a color of choice
Create as vector and Anti-Alias both checked
Add your text – I wrote ‘SEASON’
Position along the base of the tag area
When happy, convert to raster – rename Text 1
Effects, 3D Effects, Inner Bevel

Selections, All, Float, Defloat
Add a new raster layer – rename Glass
Effects, Plugins, Eye Candy 6: Text Selection – Glass

Selections, None

Add a new raster layer – name it Snow
Move this below Text 1
Select your paintbrush with these settings:
Shape: Round / Size: 5 / Hardness, Density, Thickness and Opacity: 100 / Step: 1 / Rotation: 0 / Blend mode: Normal
Set your foreground to an off white – I used #F6F6F6
Paint the snow part of your text
Effects, 3D Effects, Inner Bevel
Use the same settings
Adjust, Add/Remove Noise, Add Noise
Gaussian & Monochrome: Checked / Noise: 10%
Activate Text 1 – Layers, Merge, Merge Down
Add the same drop shadow as used throughout

Select another font – I used Al_LePorsche
Keep your settings the same, changing the background color of required
Add your text, I wrote ‘TIS THE
Image, Free Rotate, Left by 90 degrees
Position before Text 1 and convert to raster
Rename Text 2
Add the same drop shadow

Activate the grey background layer
Add a new raster layer – name it Mask 1
Selections, All
Open a paper of choice, I used Paper1
Copy and paste the paper into the selection
Selections, None
Layers, Load/Save Mask, Load Mask from Disk
Look for Vix_MaskHalloween2012-08NotHallow or mask fo choice
Source luminance, Fit to layer and Hide all mask: Checked
Layers, Merge, Merge Group
Erase any mask below the tag area
I selected the area to be deleted

Activate Text 2, which should be the top layer
Select your text tool again and choose a font – I used Quake Love
Keep your settings the same, changing the background color if required
Add your name and position where it looks best
When happy, convert to raster
Effects, Plugins, Eye Candy 4000 – Gradient Glow

Add the same drop shadow

Add your artists copyrights, scrap credits and your own taggers watermark as a new layer
Delete the grey background layer
Crop away any excess canvas
Save as a jpg/png
All Done
