Snowballs

Supplies needed:
PSP – I used X9 but any version will do
Tube of Choice
Fonts of Choice – I used Fruitz and Shafeer
Eye Candy 4000 – Gradient Glow
*Optional* Flaming Pear – Super Blade Pro

Let’s Start
Open a new canvas 600 x 600 and flood fill with grey #AAAAAA
Open fra2 and resize to 200 pixels wide
Copy and paste as a new layer
Duplicate and on the copy – Effects, Image Effects, Offset

Duplicate and Image, Mirror
Hide the grey background layer
Layers, Merge, Merge Visible
Rename Frame
Unhide the grey layer again

With the Frame layer active
Image, Resize 85%, all layers unchecked
Effects, 3D Effects, Inner Bevel

*Optional* Selections, All, Float, Defloat
Effects, Plugins, Flaming Pear – Super Blade Pro
These are my settings, but play about till you get a look you like

Selections, None

Activate the grey background layer
Copy and paste your tube as a new layer – rename Left Tube
Resize if needed, I resized to 85, all layers unchecked
Position part of the tube inside the left end frame section
Activate the Frame and grab your Magic Wand with these settings:
Mode: Add (shift) / Match Mode: RGB Value / Tolerance & Feather: 0 / Contiguous & Anti-Alias: Checked
Select inside the left end section
Selections, Modify, Expand by 3 pixels
Selections, Invert
Activate Left Tube and press delete
Selections, None
Repeat this step for the other 2 sections of the Frame, I used a different part of the tube in each section
This is what I have now

Activate the Frame and add a drop shadow of choice
I used: V&H: 4 / Opacity: 50 / Blur: 9.90 / Color: Black / Shadow on new layer: Unchecked

Activate the grey background layer
Open ele17 and resize to 55%
Copy and paste as a new layer – rename Tree
Position where it looks best behind the frame
Add the same drop shadow

Copy and paste ele7 as a new layer – rename Snow
Move below the Tree layer on your layer palette
Image, Mirror
Position the snow so it looks like its sat on the frame

Duplicate the Snow
Hide the original Snow layer and activate Copy of Snow
Move this over so the edge is level with the left edge

On Copy of Snow, erase any snow to the right of the Tree
Unhide and Activate Snow, erase any snow to the left of the Tree
Activate Copy of Snow again – Layers, Merge, Merge Down – rename Snow

Activate your Frame layer
Open ele14 and resize to 35%
Copy and paste as a new layer – rename Snowballs
Position where it looks best in front of the frame
Add the same drop shadow as used on the Frame BUT change the V to 0

Open ele8 and resize to 450 pixels wide
Copy and paste as a new layer – rename Flakes
Add the same drop shadow, putting the V back to 4
I also changed the color from Black to a dark blue (#082C38)
Erase any of the flakes you don’t want/need

Activate the grey background layer
Add a new raster layer – rename Mask
Selections, All
Copy and paste a paper of choice, Into the selection – I used Pap5
Selections, None
Layers, Load/Save Mask, Load Mask from Disk
Look for TBT_Christmas_Mask19 or mask of choice
Source luminance, Fit to layer and Hide all mask: Checked
Layers, Merge, Merge Group
Resize to 75%, all layers unchecked

Activate the top layer, which should be your Flakes
Select your text tool and choose a font – I used Fruitz
Set your foreground to null, background set to a color of choice
Create as vector and Anti-Alias both checked
Type your word of choice – I wrote ‘snowballs’
Position where it looks best and convert to raster
Effects, 3D Effects, Inner Bevel
Use the same settings as earlier
*Optional* Selections, All, Float, Defloat
Effects, Plugins, Flaming Pear – Super Blade Pro
Use the same settings as earlier
Selections, None

Effects, Pugins, Eye Candy 4000 – Gradient Glow

Add the same drop shadow as used on the Flakes (with the blue color)

Select your text tool again and choose another font – I used Shafeer
Keep your settings the same, changing the background color if needed
Add your name and position where it looks best
Convert to raster and add the same Gradient Glow
I changed the colors on my glow

Add the same drop shadow again

Add your artists copyrights, scrap credits and your own taggers watermark as a new layer
Delete the grey background
Crop away any excess canvas
Save as a jpg/png
All Done
